LSU Department of Accounting Internship Policy

1. Must be new employment or an increase in responsibility in an existing position. Internship credit will not be awarded for past experience.
2. Must be a position that has a direct application to the accounting degree.
3. Direct supervisor should have an accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CMA).
4. In general, student worker and graduate assistant positions on campus do not qualify for internship credit.
5. Approval for the internship must be obtained prior to registering for the course.
6. You must be an accounting major for at least one full semester prior to internship.
7. The faculty member may require a written assignment as part of the course requirements.
8. The required forms for internship credit are available in Patrick F. Taylor Hall 3109 C.
9. The assessment coordinator will request an outcomes assessment report from the supervisor at the end of the internship.
