Some unscrupulous accounting practices have come to light in the fictional land of Panadrevia, a place where peace and beauty become one. Investor confidence has plummeted and the economy is in crisis. Queen Andora and the Panadrevian Council must turn to accounting consultants to strengthen the country’s financial disclosure laws and restore prosperity.
Welcome to xTreme Accounting (xAct), a national competition sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). xAct teams are assigned a high-level accounting and assurance problem, such as the crisis in Panadrevia, and have two weeks to research and develop a solution that satisfies the practical concerns of multiple stakeholders. Students at LSU’s Ourso College of Business Administration participated in xAct for the first time in 2003.
