E. J. OURSO COLLEGE PROFESSOR IS A FEATURED PRESENTER AT NAVCA CONFERENCE

D. Larry Crumbley, accounting professor at LSU’s Ourso College of Business, was a featured presenter at the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) Eleventh Annual Valuation Conference in Miami Beach. The conference was held June 2-5, 2004.

Crumbley, a certified forensic accountant, spoke on the topic “Forensic Accounting Techniques.” He serves the NACVA as a member of the organization’s Certified Fraud Deterrence Board. Crumbley is the KPMG Endowed Professor at the Ourso College and is editor of the Journal of Forensic Accounting and Oil, Gas & Energy Quarterly.

Warren Eller, associate director of the Stephenson Disaster Management Institute at LSU, was recently quoted by the independent British newspaper Guardian Unlimited in reference to the excessive formalities hindering the Katrina recovery efforts.

LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business’ Department of Economics Professor Naci Mocan was featured in the Nov. 18, 2007 edition of The New York Times for his study regarding the effectiveness of capital punishment as a disincentive.

WHITE SPEAKS ON LONG LEGACY
Richard White, associate professor in LSU’s Public Administration Institute, was quoted extensively in the Chicago Tribune article "Letter from Baton Rouge," which was prompted by the incarceration of former Illinois Governor George Ryan and highlights the reign of former Governor Huey P. Long. "After Katrina," White added, "you'd see bumper stickers on cars that read, 'Free Edwin.' That was people saying that if Edwin Edwards had been governor when the storm hit, he would have done something about it." The article appeared in the Nov. 9, 2007 edition of the publication.

JUSTIS CITED IN JOURNAL
Robert Justis, professor in LSU’s Rucks Department of Management and in the university’s Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute, was quoted by the Wall Street Journal in a recent article about franchising. The piece appeared in the Nov. 8 issue of the paper and detailed some of the novel commercial concepts being forwarded by enterprising businesspeople around the country.
