William R. Lane, CFA, is the John L. Davidson Teaching
Endowed Professor, and Chairperson of the Department of
Finance at Louisiana State University. Professor Lane
received his Ph.D. degree from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1976, and holds a bachelor's
degree in mathematics and an M.B.A. from Lehigh University.
Professor Lane joined the faculty of Louisiana State University
in 1975, and served as Associate Dean for Undergraduate
Studies for the College of Business Administration from
1983 to 1985. He was appointed Chairperson of the Department
in 1999.
Professor Lane teaches graduate and undergraduate courses
in financial statement analysis and financial management.
His research interests include dividend policy, and
mergers and acquisitions, and have resulted in over
20 articles in refereed finance journals including Financial
Management, Financial Review, Journal of Financial Research,
and Journal of Banking and Finance.
Professor Lane has served as President of the Eastern
Finance Association, Vice-President of the Financial
Management Association, and a Director of the Southern
Finance Association.
