How can information technologies enable organizations to conduct business in radically different and more effective ways? This question provides the focus for the research and curriculum of the Information Systems & Decision Sciences Department. In ISDS, teaching and research are woven together to create a rich learning experience for our students. Our students graduate as well-prepared professionals with the conceptual and practical skills needed to compete in today’s dynamic IT job market.
Close relationships with industry and state agencies enable us to explore new questions and challenges related to IT, enhance career opportunities for our graduates, and assist these organizations in issues related to innovation and technological change from multiple perspectives (strategic, managerial, behavioral and operational).
Research collaborations leverage the diverse research interests and expertise of our faculty in domains as varied as medical informatics, IT outsourcing, data mining, quantitative modeling, privacy/ethics, global e-business, the strategic use of technology and traffic safety. These collaborative research efforts have resulted in major grant funding received from NSF and the State of Louisiana.
