The Rucks Department of Management at the E. J. Ourso College of Business encompasses a breadth of teaching and research in areas such as organizational behavior, human resources, strategy, entrepreneurship, industrial/labor relations, and international management for undergraduates, graduate students, and executives alike.
The management department boasts many notable achievements among faculty and students. Forbes.com and The Princeton Review ranked LSU the third most entrepreneurial campus in the nation, due in large part to the programs in the Entrepreneurship Institute. Professor Art Bedeian is one of only a handful of Boyd Professors, the highest honor an LSU professor can receive, and was awarded an Outstanding Service honor from the Southern Management Association in 2004. Bedeian and Assistant Professor Hettie Richardson won best paper awards from the Academy of Management Executive and Southern Management Association, respectively, and many of our faculty members have received teaching and curriculum honors from LSU.
The LSU chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management, a student organization, has won 15 consecutive Superior Merit Awards from the national Society of Human Resource Management organization. Outstanding students in the management department are also recognized through the Rucks Fellowship Program, which rewards top achievers in management with preferential enrollment status, increased interaction with faculty and business leaders, and a special commencement designation. |
