MANAGEMENT PROFESSOR WINS BEST PAPER
Art Bedeian, a professor in the management department at LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business, received the 2004 Academy of Management Executive Best Paper award. The paper, which Bedeian co-authored in 2003, was titled “Mitigating Risks, Visible Hands, Inevitable Disasters, and Soft Variables: Management Research That Matters to Managers.” Bedeian received the award at the annual Academy of Management conference in August.

WHITE SPEAKS ON LONG LEGACY
Richard White, associate professor in LSU’s Public Administration Institute, was quoted extensively in the Chicago Tribune article "Letter from Baton Rouge," which was prompted by the incarceration of former Illinois Governor George Ryan and highlights the reign of former Governor Huey P. Long. "After Katrina," White added, "you'd see bumper stickers on cars that read, 'Free Edwin.' That was people saying that if Edwin Edwards had been governor when the storm hit, he would have done something about it." The article appeared in the Nov. 9, 2007 edition of the publication.

JUSTIS CITED IN JOURNAL
Robert Justis, professor in LSU’s Rucks Department of Management and in the university’s Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute, was quoted by the Wall Street Journal in a recent article about franchising. The piece appeared in the Nov. 8 issue of the paper and detailed some of the novel commercial concepts being forwarded by enterprising businesspeople around the country.
