  • FINANCE SPECIALIZATION

Finance is an exciting and dynamic field with excellent and diverse career opportunities. Whether you are considering a career in financial services, corporate finance, investments, real estate, or risk management, the field of finance is rapidly changing, creating many opportunities and challenges. Financial experts are competitive, articulate, and analytical in their approach to business problems. If this sounds like you, perhaps you should consider a specialization in finance.

The fundamental concepts in finance are risk, return, and value. To do business, a company must face risk. To survive, it must create value for its shareholders. Finance includes the study of corporate financial management, as well as financial markets and institutions and the raising and investing of funds. As a finance student, you will investigate the ways risk, return, and value interact in the business world.

All Flores MBA students take BADM 7090, Financial Management. Students who wish to specialize in finance should take FIN 7826, Investment Analysis and Portfolio Theory, in the second semester of the first year. Students can then build their own concentrations. Two suggested ones are as follows:

    Investments:
FIN 7300 – Seminar in Real Estate
FIN 7310 – Real Estate Financial Decisions
FIN 7400 – Financial Risk Management
FIN 4828 – Security Analysis and Portfolio Management
    FIN 4850 – Financial Derivatives
FIN 4830 – Analysis of Corporate Financial Statements
    FIN 7633 – Financial Markets
FIN 7845 – Student Managed Investment Fund

    Corporate Finance:
FIN 7718 – Multinational Financial Management
FIN 7719 – Advanced Financial Management
FIN 7720 – Venture Capital and Investment Banking
FIN 7400 – Financial Risk Management
FIN 4830 – Analysis of Corporate Financial Statement

You might also wish to view a PowerPoint presentation on the finance specialization.
