The following minors are available to students in the E. J. Ourso College of Business, please see description for eligibility:
Information Technology Management Minor
To graduate with a minor in Information Technology Management, students must complete 21 hours consisting of: ISDS 1100, 3100, 3107, 3110, 4113, 4120, and 3 additional hours of ISDS courses at the 3000 or above level, excluding ISDS 3115. This minor is NOT available to student majoring in ISDS or General Business.
Permitted substitutions:
ISDS 1100 – This course has two potential substitutions:
- ISDS 1101 is the Honors version of ISDS 1100 so it can be substituted for ISDS 1100
- Starting in Fall 2009, ISDS 1102 can be substituted for ISDS 1100 but the substitution cannot go the other way

Entrepreneurship Minor
To graduate with a minor in entrepreneurship, students must complete the following courses: MKT 3401, MGT 3111, FIN 3115 or MGT 3115, MKT 4500, and MGT 4100 and one 3 hour elective. A comprehensive list of electives to satisfy the minor is available in the Rucks Department of Management. This minor is NOT available to students majoring in General Business or majoring in Management with an Entrepreneurship concentration.
Permitted substitutions:
There currently are no permitted substitutions; however the Rucks Department of Management is willing to allow substitutions on a case-by-case basis. Substitutions must be approved by the department chair, Dr. Robert T Justis, 225-578-6402, 3307 Patrick F. Taylor Hall, rjustis@lsu.edu.
A minor in business administration is available to students in the following colleges:
*Up until the Spring of 2003, students in the College of Education were able to obtain a minor in business administration as well.
**Students in the E. J. Ourso College of Business degree program are not eligible to minor in business, see the top of the page for information about minors offered to E. J. Ourso College students.
To graduate with a minor in business administration, students must complete the following courses:
- ACCT 2000 - Survey of Accounting (3): Credit will not be given for both this course and ACCT 2001. Students in nonbusiness curricula are advised to enroll in ACCT 2000 if they are given the option of ACCT 2000 or ACCT 2001, unless they plan to pursue a business degree at a subsequent date. All students in the E. J. Ourso College of Business are required to take ACCT 2001. Introduction to the meaning of the values presented in financial statements; management accounting concepts and internal decision making; fundamentals of individual income taxes.
- ECON 2030 - Economic Principles (3): An honors course, ECON 2031, is also available. Credit will not be given for both this course and ECON 2000 or 2010 or 2020. Economic understanding of both micro- and macroeconomic principles; problems associated with monetary policy, fiscal policy, public finance, government and business, labor, international trade, economic growth, and comparative economic systems.
- FIN 3715 - Business Finance (3): Prereq.: ECON 2000 and 2010, or 2030; and ACCT 2000 or 2001. Also offered as ECON 3715. Finance function within the business enterprise; techniques of financial management, concepts of capital structure and dividend policy, working capital management, capital budgeting, institutional and international environment of the firm.
- ISDS 1100 - Introduction to Management Information Systems (3): Management of information, computers, and systems; utilization of management information systems to improve managerial decision making.
- MGT 3200 - Principles of Management (3): Management functions, including planning, organizing, staffing/human resource management, leading/interpersonal influence, and controlling in both domestic and international spheres.
- MKT 3401 - Principles of Marketing (3): Prereq.: ACCT 2000 or 2001, and either ECON 2030 or ECON 2000 and 2010. Lecture-discussion, case analysis, marketing-simulation game; the field of marketing; marketing environment, functions, and institutional structure at a macro level; marketing strategy and policies at a micro level; problems of cost and productivity; view points of society, consumer, and marketing manager.
