  • The Department of Accounting at the E. J. Ourso College of Business strives for excellence in teaching, research, and service to the accounting profession.

    Our mission is to produce graduates at all levels that excel in their pursuits, and our accomplishments speak for themselves. The Center for Internal Auditing, housed in the accounting department, is cited as an international leader in U.S.News & World Report, and 16 internal auditing students have earned the international high score on the Certified Internal Auditor’s Exam. Over the past few years, teams of LSU accounting students have created a continuous streak by attending the PricewaterhouseCoopers’ xAct Competition finals for the fifth straight year, receiving first place twice. A key element for our success as a department is our outstanding team of faculty members. Our faculty members publish articles in top academic and professional journals, and many author textbooks and trade books.     To foster a cohesive environment among educators, professionals, business leaders, and students in the field of accounting, the LSU Department of Accounting announces the formation of the Accounting Den. The Accounting Den offers members the unique opportunity to connect with and learn from a group of individuals and organizations with a stake in the accounting field and a shared fervor for LSU. The Den approaches networking in a fresh manner-continual member interaction through an exclusive online platform.

    The LSU Department of Accounting will host the 2010 Fraud and Forensic Accounting Conference in the summer of 2010. Plans are being finalized now. Please check back for further details. The conference will feature a mix of nationally known fraud speakers, experienced practitioners and regulators.

    Participants who attend can earn up to 16 hours of continuing professional education credit for attending the conference. Conference details will soon be available online at www.bus.lsu.edu/fraud.
