ACCOUNTING PROFESSOR FEATURED AT CONFERENCE

D. Larry Crumbley, KPMG Endowed Professor in the accounting department at LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business, was a featured speaker at the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts 12th Annual Consultants Conference in Philadelphia in June, 2005.

The conference’s theme for 2005 was “Valuation, Litigation, and Fraud Deterrence – Practical, Theoretical, and Academic Perspectives.” Crumbley, who holds fraud deterrence certification, presented “Lessons Learned from the Various Fraud Surveys” to the professionals and academics in attendance.

“Fraud in the U.S. ranges from $660 billion to $1 trillion annually. Just like termites, fraud never sleeps, and just as termites can destroy the foundation of a building, fraud can destroy the foundation of an entity,” said Crumbley.

Crumbley is also an organizer of the annual Fraud and Forensic Accounting Conference hosted by the E. J. Ourso College accounting department. The 2005 Fraud and Forensic Accounting Conference will be held July 18-19 at the Energy, Coast and Environment Building on LSU’s campus.
