More than 200 guests
are expected to attend the induction of five successful
businessmen into LSU's Ourso College of Business Administration's
Hall of Distinction ceremony April 5. The event will
be held at LSU's Lod Cook Alumni Center at 6:30 p.m.
The Ourso College selects individuals for this recognition
based on their various contributions to academia, business,
government and/or community throughout their careers.
The following are the honorees for this year:
Kerry Dell Brandon is chief technology officer of
National Cash Register's Teradata CRM Solutions. After
leaving a stellar career at IBM in 1996, he co-founded
Ceres Integrated Solutions--a marketing and customer-relationship
management software company that generated $5 million
in sales by 1999. Impressed by Ceres' rapid progress,
NCR acquired the company last year for cash and stock
valued at $90 million.
Julian Reade and Sidney Nicolle Carruth are the former
owners of Carruth Mortgage Corporation and the Republic
Insurance Agency. After spending nearly 30 years in
the mortgage banking industry, they retired in 1983
and have since established a Top 100 Scholarship and
a Chancellor's Leadership Scholarship through the LSU
Alumni Association. The Carruths also established the
first developing scholar professorship in the E. J.
Ourso College of Business.
Jake Lee Netterville is chairman of the board of the
accounting firm of Postlethwaite and Netterville. Under
his leadership, P & N has grown to one of the top
80 firms in the country and is the largest Louisiana-based
public accounting firm with offices located in Baton
Rouge, New Orleans, Donaldsonville and St. Francisville.
E. Robert Theriot III is senior resident vice-president
of Merrill Lynch's Houston branch, the firm's third
largest domestic office, generating more than $130
million in revenue with assets in excess of $22 billion.
This October Theriot will celebrate his 25th year in
management as the third most senior office manager
in the firm.
Members of the Hall of Distinction are commemorated
with bronze plaques fashioned in their likenesses.
These can be viewed on the first floor of Ourso College
of Business near the northeast entrance, where they
are on permanent display.
