September 12, 2007

U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings will join the lineup of speakers at LSU's “Louisiana Looking Up! 2007,” the fourth annual business seminar hosted by the LSU Flores MBA Alumni Association-Louisiana Chapter.

Spellings, the first mother of school-aged children to serve as U.S. Secretary of Education, will discuss the important role and vested interest of the business community in helping to strengthen our nation's K-12 and higher education systems in order to ensure our children are prepared for college and the workforce.  She will also discuss the importance of reauthorizing the "No Child Left Behind Act," which calls for greater accountability in our nation’s public schools and for all students to be able to read and do math at grade level by 2014.
