Sustained economic growth requires a steady stream of eager, committed and talented
entrepreneurs willing to grow new businesses and innovate within existing ones.
These new entrepreneurs will be driven by opportunity and aided by access to social
networks, resources and new knowledge. Important strides have been made in the
region at providing these through public and private economic development efforts,
but in order for these efforts to be most effective they need commensurate educational
opportunities. Specially tailored educational programs can help ensure that the best
and the brightest young professionals have the tools they need to make a real and
lasting impact on the region by growing and developing high impact organizations.
The Entrepreneurship Fellows Program
is a year-long work/study program
designed to encourage business and
entrepreneurial practices in a select group
of undergraduate students. The program
provides students with the opportunity
to network with and be mentored by top
executives thereby giving these students
an extra edge upon graduation. Fellows
are selected from a variety of disciplinary
backgrounds across campus and are
given the knowledge, skills and contacts
to make an immediate impact. This is
accomplished through a comprehensive program that includes:
- Accelerated course sequence in entrepreneurship and innovation
- Pre-screened paid summer internships
- Formal mentorship program
- Speaker series and annual symposia
- Site visits to regional companies and institutes
- Networking events with industry and community leaders
Applications for the class of 2012 are due by October 25.
