FRANCHISEE INTRODUCTION

                         Sub topics

As you walk the streets of America, you recognize that franchises adorn almost every shopping center, every shopping mall, every busy street, and generally every business district. Even in many new housing areas franchises are there.  There is still room for more.  Franchising may be as the trend guru, John Naisbitt, stated, "Franchising is the most successful marketing concept ever created."

Franchising is the fastest growing method of doing business in the world today.  More than 600,000 franchise businesses cross the American landscape, generating more than 1 trillion dollars in sales.  Franchising accounts for over 40% of the retail and service sales in the United States today.  There is a new franchise business opening somewhere in the United States every 12 minutes.  Franchising is really the success story of the 1990's and the 2000's.

The U. S. Department of Commerce Studies report less than 5% of franchise businesses have been discontinued or failed in any given year since 1974.  This statistic is very impressive when compared to estimates of small business failures in general, which range from as low as 30% to as high as 65% depending upon whom you ask.
