SUMMARY

Franchising is exciting.  Franchising is fun.  Franchising is one of the fastest growing methods of doing business throughout the world.  Historically, franchising had its roots in the Middle Ages but it is primarily in the United States where the creation and development of franchising as a complete business system has developed.

Franchising is generally divided into two major classifications:

(1) product and trade name franchising including: the automotive industry, soft drink bottling industry, tire and service station industries;

(2) business format franchise including:  fast-food restaurants, hotels, convenient food stores, printing stores and domestic cleaning businesses.
