You are here: Franchisor Book > Training > Grand Opening Training Grand Opening Training Many franchisors, especially in retail trade, provide field support service to the new franchisee in opening the store. The franchisor will send either the training manager and/or members of the training unit to work with the new franchisee during the grand opening of the business. This service may or may not be available for smaller, service oriented franchise businesses. The grand opening training generally consists of one to two week of in-depth work experience where the trainer assists the franchisee with the grand opening of the business and also assists the franchisee in training the franchisee's new staff. It is important that the franchisee be able to hire the correct people and it is also important that the franchisee train them in the proper operations of the business prior to opening. All of this occurs, generally, from one to three weeks prior to the actual opening of the business. The franchisor's representative(s) will generally stay for one to two weeks after the store has opened and assist the franchisee and their staff during the grand opening of the business. This allows the headquarters' organization to help the franchisee overcome any unexpected problems or difficult circumstances which may occur during the initial start-up period. Some service oriented franchisors will provide similar service to the franchisees and help them in their initial service calls and selling during the initial start-up phase.
