You are here: Franchisor Book > Training > In-store Training In-store Training One area of major concern which results in a major new training method is how to encourage franchisees to properly interact. Following the home office training, some franchisors send new franchisees to receive additional in-store training at another franchisee's store. The new franchisee visits the established franchisee and works with him generally on a one or two week basis focusing primarily on the practical skills and knowledge necessary to successfully run the franchise system. Some franchisees may even go from one to three established franchisees and receive training from each one for a week. Additionally, franchisors have established a program where franchisees specifically go and visit other franchisees and help them in counseling sessions. One of the most successful programs is the "Star" program developed by Kwik Kopy Corporation. With this program the franchisees are divided into five different categories - primarily determined by annual sales. A franchisee from a lower category may request a site visit from a franchisee in a higher category. After review and approval by the headquarters' organization the franchisees meet and consult with each other. Great success has resulted from this program.
