You are here: Franchisor Book > Training > Summary SUMMARY Training is very important in a franchising program. This is the method by which a franchisor shares the vision, knowledge, and skills required to be a successful franchisee. Training is the opportunity for the franchisor to develop self-confidence, self-respect, and self-esteem, as well as developing the skill level of the franchisee. Franchise training programs are generally divided into pre-opening, grand opening, and post-opening or continuous training programs. Franchisors need to provide the assistance to help the franchisee learn about the business, as well as assistance during the grand opening of the business. In addition, personal training and assistance is generally provided by the franchisor to the franchisee in an on-going basis either through annual, semi-annual meetings, as well as monthly or quarterly training sessions by field representatives. Various programs, such as the Star, and other franchisor programs, allow franchisees to work with other franchisees to build the system. Franchise training and learning is a very complex and multi-faceted challenge. The successful franchisor develops a viable training program which develops the franchisee's skills and personal self-worth. This allows the franchisee to be a phenomenal success.
