Franchising is a way of doing business. Franchising has become the American business phenomenon of the 20th century. Since the great franchising boom of the 1950's, franchising has grown and expanded to include over 40% of all retail sales in the United States and approximately 20% of the Gross National Product. Franchising may be the best hope for growth and expansion of any business system in the world today. The Vision Franchising begins with
a vision. An independent
business person has a dream or a vision of growth or expansion.
The individual sees the product or a service which is of great use
to a large number of people in different markets throughout the world.
This product or service can be duplicated or replicated and
presented to the end consumer as a valued product.
As a franchisor you need to respect and appreciate the great vision and opportunities which are presented to you as you develop your franchising system. Franchising is an opportunity to allow others to share with you in your vision in the development and expansion of your products and/or services. Franchising is an opportunity of a lifetime. Franchising allows you the opportunity to envision a dream so spectacular that even the world today will not understand its phenomenal growth opportunities until many years later. McDonald's started in 1955 and just five decades later McDonald's is the largest and most recognized brand in the world with more than 28,000 restaurants in 119 countries. In 1999, McDonald's system wide sales were over $38 billion, operating income was over $3.3 billion, and there were over 15 billion customer visits.
