SUMMARY

Franchising is a tremendous opportunity.  The franchisor provides a product and/or service which allows profits for both the successful franchisor and successful franchisee.  Franchising is the result of a vision, a dream, or a plan.  The franchisor brings to the business opportunity a heightened goal for expansion and development and allows an independent business person to become a franchisee and share in the vision and profits of the business.

There are certain advantages to a franchising system.  These advantages would include the opportunity to expand and to grow, the raising of financial capital from franchisees for growth and expansion and the utilization of franchisees to be the motivated owners of the franchise unit.  The bulk purchasing power of franchisors allowing franchisees to lower operating costs and the advantages of a successful and proven business operation which provides the franchisee an optimal choice for a business success.

There are also disadvantages to franchising.  The franchisor will lose control over certain aspects of the job.  The franchisor will also lose hands-on involvement with the individual operations and the franchisor will also be limited by contract to the actual changes which can and may incur in the franchise units operation structure. 

Many successful franchisors have learned to provide quality services to franchisees including proven business operations, training programs, start-up assistance, well developed market and advertising programs, on-site training, annual franchise conferences, and establish customer service standards.

Franchising is exciting.  Franchising is an excellent method of expansion and growth.  Franchising is an excellent opportunity for profits and success for both the franchisor and the franchisee.
