The way traffic accidents are reported is being revolutionized in the state of Louisiana, thanks to a new software program developed by the Highway Safety Research Group (HSRG) at LSU through a grant from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Called the LACRASH system, it allows police officers to fill out and submit their crash reports electronically directly from their squad cars.  [MORE]

2006 ANNUAL TRAFFIC DATA STUDY RELEASED

The Department of Information Systems & Decision Sciences (ISDS) at the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business released its annual Louisiana Traffic Records Data Report in October.

According to Helmut Schneider, chair of the ISDS department, this year’s report shows an increase in alcohol-related crashes, as well as fatalities and property damage crashes form the previous year. There was a decrease, however, in the number of injuries reported.    [MORE]
