What is the purpose of the Modern Chinese Business and Culture Initiative?
It helps prepare future business leaders for cultural and academic exchanges, relations, and economic growth with one of the world’s burgeoning financial powers.
How can students get involved?
The initiative offers highly qualified undergraduate and Flores MBA Program students the opportunity to complete courses on campus and experience China through travel abroad. For example, Maggie Hicks , an undergraduate student, traveled to China in the summer of 2008 to work as an intern for the Louisiana-based home technology company Select Automation in Changsha, China. Additionally, Vivienxuan Luo , a Flores MBA student, was an intern at Deloitte Hong Kong in the summer of 2007.
I am interested in taking courses related to doing business with China. Are there courses available?

For example, BADM 4040–Entrepreneurship in China, seeks to relate the general characteristics behind the success of China’s entrepreneurs and show what foreign firms can learn from them to survive and thrive in China. Another example is ISDS 4160–Sourcing in China, which seeks to impart the general characteristics behind the success and failure of sourcing in China and show what firms can do to succeed in executing their sourcing strategies.
