What is Executive Education at LSU?
Executive Education is part of the Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute in the E.J. Ourso College of Business at LSU. The mission of Executive Education is to provide mid- and senior- level managers and executives with the most current business theories and practical applications to enhance their success and the success of their organizations in today’s competitive global business environment. This mission is accomplished by offering a variety of non-credit open enrollment courses and workshops at LSU as well as developing and offering custom programs at a company’s or organization’s location.
What is the procedure to have a custom program developed for my organization?
You should contact the Executive Education office by phone (225-578-1190) or e-mail (exed@lsu.edu) and discuss your organization’s management development and training needs. Senior staff from the Executive Education office and faculty from the College of Business will be available to meet with you to better understand your organization’s particular needs and begin developing a course or courses tailored to those needs. Throughout this process, representatives from your organization will remain actively involved to ensure that the program being developed is addressing your executive and management development requirements.
How is the Executive Education Program different from the Executive MBA program in the College of Business?
These are two different programs. The LSU Executive Education Program offers non-credit short courses and workshops (two days to four weeks, depending on the course or workshop) to equip mid- and senior level management executives with effective tools to enhance their leadership, innovation, negotiation, management and global competitive skills. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are offered to participants that successfully complete any of the Executive Education courses and workshops. The LSU Flores Executive MBA is a two year program in which participants receive a LSU MBA upon successful completion of that program.
Who typically attends an Executive Education course?
Most participants in an LSU Executive Education Program have at least eight years experience, and who are, or who likely will become, general managers and have the potential to become senior managers in either line or staff positions. Participants are also principals of small- and medium-size companies, entrepreneurs and owners of small but growing businesses and managers in city, state and federal government agencies.
Where are LSU Executive Education courses held?
Most of the open enrollment Executive Education courses are held on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge, LA. However, some open enrollment workshops are offered from time-to-time at other locations in Louisiana and surrounding states.
Custom programs are either offered on the LSU campus or at the location of choice of the company or organization requesting a particular program.
What is the Executive Development Program?
The Executive Development Program, or EDP, is a four week residential program completed in two, two-week sessions within one year. This is a business acumen program in which participants are exposed to the latest business and management concepts and their practical applications in a variety of areas. It prepares middle-level executives to become more effective leaders in their organizations. Participants attend classes from 8:30 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. during each two week session, and there are night classes several evenings. All classes are taught in the Lod Cook Alumni Center on the LSU campus; participants stay in the adjacent Cook Hotel and Conference Center.
What is an Executive Education Workshop?
A workshop is a 1, 2 or 3 day interactive course that takes a deep dive into a particular business topic or issue. Current workshops include such topics as Organizational Growth through Innovation, Crisis Management, Intellectual Property Management and Valuation, Negotiation Skills, Leading Strategic Change, Successful Alliances and Joint Ventures, Corporate Governance, and Ethics, Supply Chain Management and Sustainability/Life Cycle Management. Additional workshop topics are in development.
Who is the faculty in the Executive Education programs?
The faculty for executive education courses and workshops are drawn from the award winning LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business as well as from other leading national and international business schools.
