Errata for Using Excel for Undergraduate
Econometrics, 2nd Edition
p. 46:
In the 3rd bullet, omit exponent “2” in two places, since we
use the SUMSQ function for ssq_x.
p. 124: The paragraph below the partitioned
models should read as follows (changes in bold font) “In order to obtain a
homoskedastic model, we will transform the data by using the estimated
variances from each partition. We
divide the data on the first 13 observations by the estimated standard
deviation from a regression using just those observations, and divide the
last 13 observations by the estimated standard deviation obtained from
the regression using just these data.
Then we "pool" the transformed data and perform generalized
least squares estimation to obtain the correct estimates.
p. 125: For cells D2, E2 and F2 the divisor
should be the estimated standard deviation (25.33), which is the square root of
the estimated variance (641.6407)
p. 126: For cells D2, E2 and F2 the divisor
should be the estimated standard deviation (7.6), which is the square root of
the estimated variance (57.75855)
p. 139:
“results … are”
p. 157. 3rd bullet should read “In
column A, type the values 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 in cells A2 through A10.
p. 157. 5th bulleted item should
read “Copy the formula down column B to B10.”
