Eli Jones is the dean of the E. J. Ourso College of Business and the E. J. Ourso Distinguished Professor of Business. Widely published in major marketing journals, he is also the co-author of Selling ASAP: Art, Science, Agility, Performance and Strategic Sales Leadership: BREAKthrough Thinking for BREAKthrough Results. Jones' research is primarily focused on issues related to the changing sales force — sales force diversity, sales force change management and sales force technology adoption and performance, salesperson motivation, and buyer-seller relationships. He is listed in Marquis Who's Who in America, Madison Who's Who, International Who's Who Historical Society, and has been featured in several national publications, including Sales & Marketing Management, Selling Power, Biz Ed, Business 2.0, and The New York Times. Jones has received Excellence in Teaching awards on the university, national, and international levels. In August 2008, he was honored with the KPMG PhD Project Marketing Doctoral Students Association Award and, in March 2009, he was named a Mays Business School Outstanding Alumnus. Additionally, before becoming a professor, he worked in sales and sales management for three Fortune 100 companies. Jones earned his bachelor's, MBA, and PhD from Texas A&M University. |

Michael V. Martin assumed his appointment as LSU's eighth chancellor in 2008. Prior to joining LSU, Martin established a distinguished career in higher education, serving most recently as president of New Mexico State University. Before arriving at NMSU in 2004, Martin served for six years as vice president for agriculture and natural resources at the University of Florida, leading the university's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences with more than 3,000 employees statewide. He was elevated to senior vice president of the University of Florida shortly before being selected as NMSU's president. Previously, he was vice president for agricultural policy and the dean of the College of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences at the University of Minnesota. He began his academic career at Oregon State University as a faculty member in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics. A native of Crosby, Minn., Martin earned a bachelor's degree in business and economics and a master's degree in economics at Mankato State College (Minnesota State University) in Minnesota. He received his PhD in applied economics from the University of Minnesota in 1977. His areas of specialization are prices, international trade, public policy, transportation, and business logistics. |

David Steiner is the chief executive officer of Waste Management Inc., the leading provider of waste and environmental services in North America. Waste Management employs more than 50,000 people across the nation and is an industry leader in advances in health and safety, ethics and diversity, customer service, fleet logistics and corporate governance. Steiner joined Waste Management in 2000 as vice president and deputy general counsel and was quickly appointed to the positions of senior vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary. In 2003, he was named executive vice president and chief financial officer and, in 2004, he was named CEO. He currently sits on the board of directors of FedEx Corporation, Tyco Electronics Ltd., Securing America's Future Energy (SAFE), YMCA Houston, Central Houston, and Greater Houston Partnership. A member of the Young President's Organization (YPO), Steiner has led Waste Management during the procurement of several accolades. In 2006, Waste Management won the first-ever Corporate Wildlife Habitat Council's President's Award. Two years later, Ethisphere named Waste Management as one of its World's Most Ethical Companies. Forbes named Waste Management one of America's Top Companies in 2009, and that same year it was listed in Barron's 500. Steiner received his bachelor's in accounting from LSU in 1982, and earned his juris doctorate from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1986. |

Todd Graves is the president and founder of Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, which was established in 1996. There are currently 80 Raising Cane's locations in 14 states. After repeatedly being turned down for capital, Graves raised the funding necessary to open by working as a boilermaker in oil refineries and as a commercial fisherman in Alaska. His efforts have led to Raising Cane's being recognized by Nations Restaurant News, Chain Leader, QSR, Entrepreneur, Rolling Stone, USA Today, and elsewhere. Graves was named an Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year" in 2010, and also earned the SCORE Award for Outstanding Socially Progressive Business. Graves graduated from the University of Georgia in 1994. While dedicated to great quality service and food, he is also focused on giving back to the community. Graves donates more than 25 percent of profits back to communities where Raising Cane's restaurants operate. With these donations, Graves emphasizes schools, food banks, active lifestyles, canine assistance, and entrepreneur programs. |
![]() Patrick Mulhearn President Louisiana Industry for Film and Entertainment |
Patrick Mulhearn is the president of the Louisiana Industry for Film and Entertainment (LIFE) trade association, a newly formed organization created to promote and protect the entertainment industry in the State of Louisiana. In his role as president, Mulhearn runs the first and largest design-built studio facility operating in the South. He is a member of the Baton Rouge Film Commission Advisory Board and was selected as one of the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report's 2009 "Forty Under Forty." A two-time graduate of LSU, Mulhearn's writing, editing, producing, and marketing skills have earned him a number of awards, including the ABC Television Network's Alpha Award. |

Matthew Saurage is a fourth-generation owner and operator of the Community Coffee Company and serves as its president and chief executive officer. Community Coffee Company is the largest family-owned retail coffee brand in the U.S. and was established in 1919 when founder Henry Norman "Cap" Saurage first brewed the brand in Baton Rouge. Saurage joined the company in 1995 as manufacturing engineer and was appointed to his current positions in 2005, after working in many different areas of the company, including the roasting facility, marketing department, operations department, and new product development. He serves on the boards of various non-profit organizations that benefit the interests of education and arts and helps guide Community's Coffee's philanthropic activities, including its 22-year-old Community Cash for Schools program. Saurage received his engineering degree from Louisiana Tech University and then went on to earn his MBA from Vanderbilt University. |

Pete Stewart is the president, chief executive officer, and co-founder of TraceSecurity, a leading provider of IT security compliance and risk management solutions. TraceSecurity's clients include organizations in financial services, healthcare, insurance, government, and other regulated sectors. Since co-founding the company in 2004, Stewart has been a pioneer in the development of cloud-based security compliance solutions. Under his leadership, TraceSecurity launched the first and only comprehensive cloud-based solution designed for the Fortune 2000 market, leading to an annual revenue increase of 153%. A graduate of LSU, Stewart has held a variety of executive positions with leading companies such as Fifth Generation Systems, Micrografx, and McAfee. He served as a member of the Louisiana National Guard 239th Military Police Unit and has also served on many 501c3 boards. |

Adam Knapp is the president and chief executive officer of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber. He was named to these positions in 2008, after serving as the deputy director of the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA). Knapp designed a key entity to facilitate the state's recovery efforts in response to Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. Prior to his time at LRA, he served as economic development advisor to the governor and as the policy director for Louisiana Economic Development (LED) where he created and refined important economic incentives such as the Angel Investor Incentive, the Research and Development Tax Credit, and the Quality Jobs Program. Knapp graduated from Davidson College in 1996, and also studied at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and Julius-Maximilians Universität in Würzburg, Germany. |

The LSU Flores MBA Alumni Association-Louisiana Chapter and the E. J. Ourso College of Business will be hosting Louisiana Looking Up 2011 on Thursday, September 15, 2011. This is the eighth year for an event which will accentuate Louisiana's positive business news, serve as a venue to exchange business ideas, and provide a premier networking opportunity.
