Two Ourso College of Business Administration
graduates were named LSU University Medalists
at fall commencement on December 19, 2003. Valerie
Kay Burgess and Sarah Strozier, who each earned
a BS in accounting, were awarded the University
Medal for maintaining a perfect 4.0 gpa throughout
their LSU educations.
Burgess is a native of Lafayette, La. and a graduate
of Comeaux High School. She is the daughter of
Robert Burges and Belinda Stutes Burgess. While
at LSU, Burgess belonged to the Foureaux Society
and was named one of the Top 20 Seniors in Accounting.
She was also a member of the Tigerband and Symphonic
Band. Burgess plans to attend graduate school
and earn certifications in public accounting and
management accounting.
Strozier is originally from Walker, La. She is
the daughter of Herbert and Susan Strozier. Strozier
was ranked in the Top 25 Juniors and Seniors in
Accounting and was a member of the Golden Key
Honor Society while at LSU. She plans to attend
graduate school and sit for the Certified Public
Accountant exam.
