Art Bedeian, a professor in the management department at LSU’s
E. J. Ourso College of Business Administration,
received the 2004 Academy of Management Executive
Best Paper award. The paper, which Bedeian co-authored
in 2003, was titled “Mitigating Risks, Visible
Hands, Inevitable Disasters, and Soft Variables:
Management Research That Matters to Managers.”
Bedeian received the award at the annual Academy
of Management conference in August.
The Academy of Management Executive is the practitioner
journal of The Academy of Management, the leading
international organization of academics and management
practitioners. Each year, the members of the Executive
Advisory Panel rank the articles published in
AME to select the best article.
Bedeian is a Boyd Professor and the Ralph and
Kacoo Olinde Distinguished Professor in the Rucks
Department o Management. Bedeian completed his
Bachelor of Business Administration at the University
of Iowa, before earning his Master of Business
Administration at the University of Memphis and
his Doctorate at Mississippi State University.
He also will receive the Southern Management Association’s
2004 Sustained Outstanding Service Award at the
November SMA meeting.
