LSU and the E. J. Ourso College of Business have announced an innovative
new initiative, the modern Chinese Business and Culture program. Through
this program, undergraduates in any major can minor in modern Chinese culture
and commerce, and Flores MBA students can select the modern Chinese business
and culture specialization during their studies.
“China has one of the world’s largest and fastest growing economies,” said
Robert T. Sumichrast, dean of the E. J. Ourso College. “China also
has customs, language, and business practices that are very different from
those in the United States. We developed this program so U. S. students would
learn to live and do business with China by completing courses at LSU and
in China, and often, by living and working in China.”
Undergraduate and Flores MBAs who choose the modern Chinese business and
culture specialization become immersed in the language, culture, and business
practices of one of the world’s largest nations. Students participate
in the China discovery tour and study at distinguished Chinese universities
in Shanghai and Beijing, including Fudan University, Tonji University, and
Tsinghua University. They also learn to speak Mandarin Chinese and some will
be offered in internships in China with major corporations such as Security
National and Pepsi.
The modern Chinese business and culture specialization is a joint effort
between the E. J. Ourso College, the LSU Honors College, and the LSU College
of Arts & Sciences.
