CHARLES LANDRY NAMED CHAIRMAN-ELECT OF THE LSU FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

January 26, 2007

[LSU NEWS]

Charles A. Landry, an attorney with Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carrere & Denegre, LLP, has recently been elected chairman-elect of the board of directors for the LSU Foundation. Landry will serve as chairman-elect from January 2007 through January 2009 and will serve as chairman from January 2009 through January 2010.

Landry has been a member of the LSU Foundation Board of Directors since 1999. He has been involved with the LSU Foundation by serving as property committee chairperson since 2001, serving as governance committee chairperson since 2003, and as audit committee chairperson from 2003-04. He presently chairs the foundation’s New Building Committee.

Landry received his bachelor’s degree in business in 1975 and his law degree in 1977 from LSU. He is the past managing partner of the Baton Rouge office of Jones Walker and a past member of the firm’s executive committee.

The LSU Foundation is LSU’s primary academic fundraising organization. Chartered in 1960, the foundation seeks financial support for LSU and manages more than $285 million in endowed funds for the benefit of the university. The foundation’s development program supports the activities of LSU academic units by attracting contributions for scholarships, professorships, and academic resources that cannot be financed entirely with state funds. In 2005-06, the LSU Foundation provided more than $24 million in support for LSU.
