LOUISIANA BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER NAMED FINALIST FOR PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

February 27, 2007

[LSU NEWS]

The Louisiana Business and Technology Center at LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business was recently named a finalist for the National Business Incubation Association’s 2007 Incubator Innovation Award.

The prestigious award will be presented to the winning finalist at NBIA’s 21 International Conference on Business Incubation. An awards program luncheon will be held during the conference to recognize and honor the winning incubator.

The NBIA Incubation Awards Program is held every year to showcase excellence in the business incubation industry. The awards luncheon ceremony will be held Tuesday, April 3 at 12:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel in Seattle, Wa. The winner will also receive a $250 check and will also be showcased in the NBIA newsletter.

“The LBTC at LSU has been on the leading edge of innovation for business incubators since our inception in 1988. It is exiting to see our latest innovation – the “Incubator on Wheels” recognized by the national association that represents over 1000 incubator programs worldwide. The Mobile Classroom allows the LBTC and LSU to offer business counseling, management assistance, disaster recovery counseling and business incubation services to the underserved areas of Louisiana, thereby reaching entrepreneurs that would normally not have access to our services and programs,” states Charlie D’Agostino, executive director of the LBTC.

“We anticipate that this program will stimulate the creation of 100’s of small businesses and many jobs for Louisiana over the next three years. Winning this NBIA award is special, as it follows our 2005 selection as the National Business Incubator of the Year in North America,” continued D’Agostino.

The LBTC finished as first runner-up for this NBIA award.
