LBTC PRESENTED WITH SOUTHERN GROWTH POLICIES BOARD 2007 INNOVATOR AWARD

March 5, 2007

The Louisiana Business and Technology Center at LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business has been named the winner of the Southern Growth Policies Board 2007 Innovator Award.

The LBTC’s Mobile Entrepreneurship Training Program was chosen from more than 100 nominees in the southeast region of the United States in recognition of its substantial contributions toward workforce and economic development.

Representatives from the LBTC will travel to St. Louis, Mo. during June 3-5 to participate in the Southern Workforce Summit Conference. As one of 14 innovators in the southern region, the Mobile Entrepreneurship Training Program will be honored in an awards ceremony hosted by Missouri Governor Matt Blunt on Sunday, June 3, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency in St. Louis.

“The Mobile Classroom has become a model program for rural entrepreneurship training as we have developed an effective mechanism to bring entrepreneurial training to the underserved rural areas of Louisiana and the communities impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita,” stated Charles D ’Agostino, executive director of the LBTC.

“The Southern Growth Policies Board is an innovation think tank that offers ideas and programs to build a better South and that has a mission to benchmark success and overcome weaknesses in the entire southern region. It was a great honor for LSU and the LBTC’s Rural Entrepreneurship Program to be selected for its most innovative program award. Louisiana will get great recognition for this award and will be called upon to assist other states in replicating this successful concept,” continued D ’Agostino.
