SPNIOSA, SCOTT ROUND OUT SPRING DISTINGUISHED SPEAKER SERIES

March 20, 2007

J.T. “Tommy” Spinosa and Peggy Scott will visit LSU within a week of each other to wrap-up the Flores MBA Distinguished Speaker Series for this spring semester. Spinosa, owner and manager of JTS, addressed MBAs and guests Friday, March 16, 2007, while Scott, executive vice president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, will speak Friday, March 23, 2007. Scott’s lecture will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in LSU’s Energy, Coast & Environment Building on Nicholson Drive Extension.

JTS is headquartered in Baton Rouge and includes a team of 86 real estate professionals skilled in real property acquisitions and development, construction management, and asset management.

Spinosa has acquired and developed real property in excess of $800 million throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. As a licensed real estate broker and Louisiana contractor, he has developed multi-family communities in South Louisiana and, most recently, has directed his efforts toward the development and acquisition of commercial office buildings.

Scott has been in her current position since October 2005 and is responsible for finance, treasury, strategic and business planning, underwriting, plan performance, member services, internal auditing, administrative services, and other related issues.

Prior to working for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Scott gained executive management and finance experience from positions with Deloitte, General Health System, Novant Health Inc., and Pan-American Life Insurance Company.

In 2004, Scott was honored as the National Financial Executive of the Year by Robert Half International and as the 2004 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year by Tulane University. She earned her bachelor's degree in accounting from LSU in 1973 and her MBA from Tulane in 1992.

The Distinguished Speaker Series is an integral part of the Flores MBA Program at the E. J. Ourso College of Business. Through the series, students gain insight into new ideas and forces shaping American and international businesses from executives who face these issues daily.

All lectures are open to the public and attire is professional. For information about DSS or the Flores MBA Program, contact Jennifer Loftin at jloftin@lsu.edu. For information about the E. J. Ourso College, visit www.bus.lsu.edu.
