D. Martin “Marty” Phillips, managing director and principal of EnCap Investments, will speak to the LSU Flores MBA Alumni Association-Houston Chapter as part of its Executive Speaker Series on Feb. 5, 2008. The event will be held at Waste Management, One City Centre, located at 1021 Main St., second floor lobby. Refreshments will be served beginning at 6 p.m., and Phillips will begin speaking at 6:45 p.m.
Phillips, a Baton Rouge native, earned a bachelor’s in business administration in 1975 from LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business and an M.B.A. in 1977 from the college’s Flores MBA Program. He went on to attend the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
A member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, Phillips serves on the board of Plains Resources Corporation and on the board of Small Steps Nurturing Center, an early childhood education program for economically at-risk youth in Houston’s First Ward. He established the Donald Lindley and Ruby Wright Phillips Developing Scholar Professorship at LSU in honor of his parents. The highest honor given to E. J. Ourso College alumni was bestowed upon Phillips when he was inducted into the E. J. Ourso College Hall of Distinction in 2002.
