LSBDC TECHNOLOGY CENTER TO HOLD TRADEMARK WORKSHOP

February 1, 2008

The Louisiana Small Business Development Center’s Technology Center at LSU's E. J. Ourso College of Business and the LSU Libraries are teaming up to host a workshop about trademarks. The workshop is scheduled for March 8, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will be held in Room 129 of Himes Hall on LSU’s campus.
           
This workshop is designed for inventors and researchers who need basic information about trademarks and search techniques. There will be a patent and trademark attorney on hand to answer questions from attendees.

The LSBDC Technology Center is an integral part of the Louisiana Business & Technology Center, a part of the Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute in LSU’s E. J. Ourso College, and is a member of the Louisiana Small Business Development Center Network, a statewide network that provides technical assistance in areas of business and marketing planning, financial projections, entrepreneurial training and loan preparation assistance to Louisiana’s entrepreneurs and small businesses.
           
Each year the LSBDC Network counsels more than 4,000 entrepreneurs and small business owners with nearly 20,000 hours of one-on-one counseling. Additionally, the LSBDC Network conducts more than 500 training events statewide each year, reaching more than 10,000 entrepreneurs and small business owners. The LSU Libraries offer students and faculty strong support for instruction and research through collections containing almost three million volumes, microform holdings of more than four million, and a manuscript collection of more than 12 million items. The library catalogs of 27 universities in the state are accessible online.
           
LSU Libraries' U.S. Patent Depository Library Collection, the United Nations Documents Collection, and the U.S. Regional Depository Library Collection are housed in Middleton Library, which has been a depository for publications of the federal government since 1907 and has a substantial portion of the U.S. documents issued before and after that time. In 1981, the library was designated as an official depository for U.S. Patents. The patent collection includes all patents issued from 1871 to the present.
