Representatives from the Louisiana Business & Technology Center, an integral part of the Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute in LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business, will be on hand Feb. 26-27, 2008 along with the LBTC’s Mobile Classroom in the Casey Jones Parking Lot for a series of sessions focused on entrepreneurial training and small business development.
The initiative, entitled “Driving Louisiana’s Economy,” is designed to spur economic development in Louisiana’s rural parishes affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. To drive this program, the LBTC utilizes the Mobile Classroom, which will visit 37 such parishes and areas during a three-year cycle.
A converted semi-trailer, the Mobile Classroom features a plasma-screen monitor for video presentations, seating for up to 30 people, exhibit and display space, self-contained power, water, heating and cooling systems, a kitchen and handicapped/wheelchair access.
Intensive business start-up seminars during this two-day visit will include ‘Starting and Financing Your Business,’ ‘How to Patent Your Product,’ ‘Budgeting and Financial Statements,’ ‘Small Business Innovative Research,’ ‘Marketing 101,’ ‘Customer Service,’ and ‘Working With Your Bank to Get a Loan.’ A special interview skills session will be held for teens Feb. 26 and personal business consulting by LBTC staff will be available free of charge.
Seating is limited, and pre-registration for sessions is required. Participants have the option to register for one day, both days, or for individual sessions. To register, call 504-363-1505.
