Bernard E. "Trey" Boudreaux III has been named undersecretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections by Governor Bobby Jindal.
Since 1996, Boudreaux has served as undersecretary and chief of staff of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections. In his previous position, he oversaw the management of the department's annual operating budget of $714 million, more than 6,000 employees and more than 100,000 adult offenders.
Boudreaux has also previously served as a budget analyst for the Louisiana Department of Justice and as a research analyst for the Louisiana Legislative Fiscal Office. He is the member of several professional organizations, including the American Correctional Association, the Southern States Correctional Association and the Louisiana Prison Chapel Foundation.
Boudreaux received a bachelor's in marketing and a master's in public administration from LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business.
