BUSINESS RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE STUDENTS WELCOME FACULTY AND STAFF

February 20, 2008

After its doors were opened first to students this semester, the residents of LSU’s Business Residential College invited faculty and staff of the E. J. Ourso College of Business over for a visit.

The Business Residential College is a living-learning environment whereby knowledge attainment is incorporated directly into a residence hall setting. Academic benefits of the BRC include priority scheduling for business classes, on-site advising, and study groups in economics, mathematics, and accounting. The facility will be utilized to assist students in acclimating to the culture of college life and to the culture of business.

According to BRC Associate Rector Kelli Wildman, the advantages for students residing in the new facility are plentiful.

“Of course, the residents are excited about the new facilities, the suite bathrooms and the big screen television in the living room,” Wildman said. “They are also pleased with the two on-site smart classrooms that allow us to provide programming that is academic in nature. This facility is what we had in mind when the concept of a business residential college was first introduced.”

Following an introduction of the BRC’s staff and student residential assistants, E. J. Ourso faculty and staff were treated to a floor-by-floor tour, followed by a reception in the community living room.

The BRC is open to students who have declared a business or pre-business major. For more information about this exciting new facility, visit www.bus.lsu.edu/academics/brc.
