FLORES MBAAA CHAPTER MEMBERS COME HOME

February 29, 2008

Members of the three Flores MBA Alumni Association chapters journeyed back to campus Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 to participate in the LSU Alumni Association’s annual Chapter Leadership Workshop. All three Flores MBAAA chapters are designated as official LSUAA chapters.

Held on campus at the Lod Cook Alumni Center, the Chapter Leadership Workshop invited alumni from across the nation to Baton Rouge for a variety of team-building activities and sessions designed to help chapters generate ideas and grow their organizations.

Veronica Guidry and Matt Ardoin of the Flores MBAAA-Houston Chapter, Manny Crespo and Seth Turner of the Flores MBAAA-Dallas Chapter, and Troy Prevot and Carmen Austin of the Flores MBAAA-Louisiana Chapter were joined by E. J. Ourso College of Business Director of Alumni & External Relations Wendy Luedtke at the daylong event, which also afforded attendees the opportunity to watch the LSU Tigers men’s basketball team take on the Tennessee Volunteers. A crawfish boil that evening capped the affair.

According to Guidry, who serves as the president of the Flores MBAAA-Houston Chapter, she and Ardoin gained valuable insight during the workshop’s roundtable events about various chapter aspects.

“As a newly founded club last year we were able to see what worked for other chapters regarding fund-raising and socials,” Guidry said. “This year, we shared with others the success of our Executive Speaker Series and monthly socials and learned more about the exposure we can have via the other local LSUAA chapters in our area.”

With 68 chapter members participating in this year’s workshop representing 19 of the association’s 115-plus chapters, LSUAA Director of Chapters Jason Ramezan hailed the event as the largest leadership workshop ever for the organization.
