Smith Research Corporation, a minority 8 A certified graduate company of LSU’s Louisiana Business & Technology Center, has been selected as the 2008 National Business Incubation Association Incubator Graduate of the Year.
“This is a tremendous honor,” LBTC Executive Director Charles D’Agostino said. “Smith Research Corporation was selected from thousands of graduate companies nominated by the association’s more than 1,200 member incubators.”
Established in 1994 by President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Smith, Smith Research Corporation, based in Baton Rouge, La., provides a number of specialty disciplines including architectural design and renovations, civil/structural engineering, facility operations and maintenance, construction management and project management.
In the past, SRC has completed projects for NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Southern University, West Feliciana Parish and the University of New Orleans among others. Current clients include NASA’s Stennis Space Center, the Department of Veteran Affairs and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Smith was presented with the award at a luncheon held today.
“The LBTC has been an outstanding venue for me to start my company,” Smith said. “It has most definitely accelerated our growth and success.”
The Louisiana Business & Technology Center, an integral part of LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business’ Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute, endeavors to enhance economic development in Louisiana through the support of existing small businesses and the development of new businesses.
