BATON ROUGE—This fall, the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business will host its inaugural installment of the Dean’s Seminar Series on Global Research, Education and Practice on Monday, October 26, 2009. The event, which will begin at 3 p.m. in 1119 Patrick F. Taylor Hall, will feature Edgard Cornachione, associate professor and director of graduate programs at the University of São Paulo in Brazil.
“The Dean’s Seminar Series on Global Research, Education and Practice underscores our globalization efforts and provides an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to learn from scholars representing emerging countries,” said LSU E. J. Ourso College Dean Eli Jones. “The one-hour seminar will be offered once a semester. Invest an hour and learn the world.”
Cornachione’s talk, titled “Doing Business with Brazil,” will draw from his experience as a member of the faculty of the College of Economics, Business and Accounting at the University of São Paulo, including the numerous scholarly papers he has written and presentations he has made at conferences across the globe.
In addition to his duties at the University of São Paulo, Cornachione is the director of the four-year Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education/Fundacao Coordenacao de Aperfeicoamento de Pessoal de Nivel program, involving research departments from his home university, the University of Brasilia, the University of Illinois and the University of Minnesota. He also serves as an editorial board member for journals in Brazil, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Cornachione holds a bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and “livre docente” postdoctoral degrees from the University of São Paulo. Additionally, he earned a Ph.D. in human resource education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The Dean’s Seminar Series is open to the public.
