ST. PETE BEACH, Fla.-Eric Liguori, an LSU Rucks Department of Management Ph.D. student, was recently awarded the Best Doctoral Student Paper Award from the Southern Management Association and will present it later this week at SMA’s annual conference.
Liguori’s paper, “Nell Nelson and the Chicago Times ‘City Slave Girls’ Series: Beginning a National Crusade for Labor Reform in the Late 1800s,” received the award for the Management History/Management Education track. He will present his paper at the SMA conference Thursday.
SMA is a regional affiliate of the Academy of Management. Its primary mission is to advance the research, teaching, learning and practice of management. Presently, SMA’s membership consists of more than 900 management professors, doctoral students and executives representing more than 200 colleges, universities and business firms in 43 states and several foreign countries.
The Rucks Department of Management at LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business endeavors to prepare students for careers in fields such as international management, human resources, entrepreneurship and industrial/labor relations. Rucks and his wife, Catherine, has aided the department in securing faculty who are repeatedly recognized for their research and has aided student-affiliated organizations in achieving top honors nationally.
