    February 16, 2011

OXFORD, Miss.—Doctoral students from the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business Department of Marketing recently attended the Southeast Marketing Symposium, which was held at the University of Mississippi, February 3 and 4, 2011.

Stephanie Mangus, Jacob Hiler, Linda Liu and MD Al-Emran attended the symposium to network with students and faculty from other doctoral programs in marketing throughout the Southeastern Conference.

“We also participated in research sessions designed to offer students a venue to receive feedback about their research, as well as spur future research endeavors,” Mangus said.

Mangus and Hiler both served as research presenters at the event. Mangus’ presentation, “Friends & Family – To Refer or Not to Refer?” explored the impact of rewards programs on customer referral likelihood. Hiler’s presentation included a replication of Bertini, Ofek, & Ariely’s “The Impact of Add-On Features on Consumer Product Evaluations” and discussed the impact of add-on features on product evaluation.

“The department was kind enough to sponsor our attendance at the symposium,” Mangus added. “All of us were certainly appreciative for this tremendous opportunity.”

The students were advised by Professor Ron Niedrich and V. Price LeBlanc Developing Scholar Professor in Marketing Judith Anne Garretson Folse.

The Department of Marketing at LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business prepares its students for careers in management, advertising, buying, product development, retailing and sales.
