The Department of Accounting at LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business hosted it annual awards banquet on April 20, 2006, at the Lod Cook Alumni Center on LSU’s campus.

Accounting Department Chair Barabara Apostolou greeted students and guests and E. J. Ourso College Dean Robert T. Sumichrast gave the keynote remarks. Special guests at the banquet included several donors to the scholarship program and the accounting department.

The accounting department recognized accounting students who participated in the xAct! Extreme Accounting competition hosted by PricewaterhouseCoopers. The LSU xAct team won first place honors in the national competition for the second consecutive year in 2006. Team members were: Colton Fontenot, senior; Leigh Anna Watson, senior; Mattie Pourciau, junior; Jonathan Whitley, sophomore; and Angelique Marcantel, freshman. Apostolou and Michael Blue, accounting instructor, served as faculty advisors for the team. Each team members received a commemorative gift provided by John Wiley and Sons.

The awards banquet was sponsored by Becker CPA Review, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Hannis T. Bourgeois, KPMG, McGraw-Hill Irwin, Pearson Prentice Hall, Postlethwaite & Netterville, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ryan & Company, J Wiley and Sons, and Your Other Warehouse. Table arrangements were provided by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
